Well, if you’re planning on contracting long-term, setting up your own limited company makes sense. If you think contracting may just be a short-term option go with an Umbrella company – but there are two important things to remember:

First, don’t go with a smaller company.
This is your money we’re talking about and you need an Umbrella company with resources behind it.

Second, don’t choose a company that offers offshore services.
A lot of employers won’t work with them due to worries about tax avoidance.
